Hakone Kowakien Yunessun contains a waterpark, which is particular awesome and totally different than any onsen resort in Japan. A traditional ryokan approach is the standard throughout Japan and Hakone Kowakien Yunessun bucks that model completely. For example, European motifs in certain spaces of the resort can be found along with the silly onsen themes like the giant wine bottle and massive teakettle pouring the hot spring water.

It is just so cool that you can enjoy the relaxation of an onsen and frolic shamelessly in play, all in the same resort.

An added bonus for those visiting Hakone is the multitude of interesting museums. Check out their English website here, it lists the museums, their price, and directions to each location. Good times will be had.
