彼がテレビを見ている間私は本を読んでいました。

I wish I had asked my teacher.
先生に聞けば良かった。
(not only—but also–)
だけで(は)なくーー(も) (Rel: ばかりで(は)なくーー(も))
Mr. Brown has not only been to Japan, but has also lived there.
ブラウンさんは日本へ行っただけではなく住んだこともあります。
(had better do s.t.)
ほうがいい (Rel: たらどうですか)
You’d better eat vegetables too.
野菜も食べたほうがいいよ。
(–be more (Adj.) than–; –do s.t. more (Adv.) than-do)
ほうがーより (Rel: より)
It’s probably better for me to talk than for you to talk.
私が話すほうが君が話すよりいいでしょう。
(in place of–; instead of; to make up for–; although; but)
かわりに (Rel: けれど(も);しかし)
Can my father go there in place of (instead of) me?
私のかわりに父が行ってもいいですか。
